Research

The primary focus of my research is to better understand how resistance to antibiotics can spread among bacteria. I am particularly interested in the potential of animal (human included) and environmental bacterial communities to be a reservoir of transferable antibiotic resistance. I am also interested in the evolutionary history of mobile genetic elements carrying resistance genes.
My work is intended to be global scale with the use of high-thoughput sequencing and advanced molecular biology methods.
