Research

My main research involves the studies of the biodiversity of strains belonging to the genus Brucella including major zoonotic pathogenic species and the closest related genus Ochrobactrum.
These studies include large-scale investigation of phylogenetics, phylogeography and population genetics of Brucella strains from different host and environmental sources.
This research is carried out through global genome-based analyses in order to understand the pathogenic evolution from environmental strains to species affecting livestock and humans.
