Fabrice LAURENT

PhD, "Apicomplexa and Mucosal Immunity" team member, Deputy head of the Animal health division of INRAE

Research

I have devoted my career to the study of parasitic infectious diseases such as coccidiosis and cryptosporidiosis. In order to limit susceptibility to infection by Cryptosporidium parvum, I have contributed to characterizing the mucosal immune response during the infection and the means of reinforcing it based on the particularities of the intestinal immune system of newborns.
I revealed the importance of innate immunity in controlling the acute phase of the infection.
More recently, I have also developed work on new antiparasitic agents, which has led me to file a patent and negotiate with an industrial partner to advance in Technology readiness levels (TRL).
